Mohenjo-Daro’s Ruins: Nuclear Echoes from Antiquity?
The ruins of Mohenjo-Daro, one of the oldest cities in the world, continue to raise big unanswered questions. Located in the present-day Sindh province of Pakistan, this city was the center of the Indus Valley civilization, which flourished in approximately 2,600 BC. However, the strange burn marks and petrified bodies found here have opened up shocking hypotheses about an ancient nuclear disaster.
In the 1920s, British archaeologist John Marshall first excavated Mohenjo-Daro, revealing a carefully planned city with straight roads and an advanced drainage system. But the strangest point appeared when experts discovered signs of extremely high temperatures causing stones and bricks to melt. The bodies were found fallen, with no signs of hiding or wounds from conventional weapons.
Notable tracks
- Brick walls melt or vitrify, which only occurs at temperatures above 1,500°C.
- Soil samples from the area contain large amounts of silica, similar to soil from areas where modern nuclear testing has been carried out.
- The skeletons are strangely preserved, their radiation is higher than normal, despite being buried for thousands of years.
These details have led to the hypothesis of writer Erich von Däniken and many other researchers that Mohenjo-Daro may have been the site of a prehistoric nuclear explosion. They believe that this civilization possesses technology so advanced that it surpasses current human understanding. Some have also linked this event with ancient stories from Indian literature such as the mahabharata which describes a “fireball brighter than a thousand suns” that destroys everything in the blink of an eye.
Some scientists are skeptical and believe that these tracks could be caused by meteorites or volcanoes, although the area has no obvious volcanic activity. The ash layers and high temperatures may have been caused by a large-scale fire rather than a nuclear explosion.
Although there is no definitive conclusion, Mohenjo-Daro remains a great testimony to the outstanding development of ancient civilizations. This discovery not only sparked scientific debate, but also sparked imagination about the unknown abilities of prehistoric humans.
