Nuggets Among 2 Teams Expressing Interest in Trade for Celtics’ $100 Million Guard: Report
The Denver Nuggets had a busy start to their offseason as they decided to make some major changes to their roster after being eliminated in the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive season last year.
Denver began their offseason by making a shocking trade with the Brooklyn Nets that saw them acquire Cameron Johnson in exchange for Michael Porter Jr. and a first-round pick.
By making this move, the Nuggets not only added a three-point sharpshooting forward but they also opened up cap space to make more additions to their roster.
With the extra cap space, Denver signed Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. in free agency and they also acquired Jonas Valanciunas from the Sacramento Kings to upgrade their bench.
While the Nuggets have already made a ton of moves this summer, more moves could be on the way as they are reportedly showing interest in a trade for a young guard.
Nuggets showing interest in Anfernee Simons
According to Hoops Wire’s Sam Amico, the Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers have expressed interest in trading for Boston Celtics guard Anfernee Simons.

Of course, the Celtics acquired Simons from the Portland Trail Blazers in the Jrue Holiday trade earlier this offseason so a trade could not take place until September 7.
For the Nuggets, adding Simons to their backcourt alongside Jamal Murray would create a deadly offensive duo or they could also elect to bring Simons off the bench to fill the role Russell Westbrook played last season.
Either way, adding the 26-year-old guard would be a solid move for the Nuggets to make this offseason as they continue to look at ways to upgrade their roster around Nikola Jokic, Murray and Aaron Gordon, though pulling off a trade for Simons would be tough for them to do.
To acquire Simons, the Nuggets would likely have to move one of either Johnson, Murray or Gordon to match cap space which is very unlikely for them to do with all three players expected to have major roles alongside Jokic next season.
Because of this, it is highly unlikely that Denver will be able to acquire Simons this offseason and the Celtics would also likely want a large trade package in return if they even want to move him at all after acquiring him earlier this summer.
