Lakers could receive an unexpected frontcourt boost for next season

Yet to debut last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, forward Maxi Kleber posted a video of himself throwing down an impressive windmill dunk, signaling he’s fully ready to play and contribute for the Lakers next season, possibly becoming an X-factor down the stretch.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ trade acquisition last season, Maxi Kleber, never made his debut for the team after arriving as part of the Luka Doncic trade.

Injuries prevented the 33-year-old German forward from becoming the much-needed frontcourt asset the Lakers hoped for, especially during the playoffs. However, this upcoming season, he could turn into an unexpected X-factor for the team.

Kleber recently posted a video of himself throwing down an impressive windmill slam, signaling his full recovery from the foot surgery that sidelined him for the entire second half of the 2024–25 season.

Last season, Kleber averaged 3.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in nearly 19 minutes per game over 34 appearances for the Mavericks.

An eight-year NBA veteran, the German power forward has played in 44 career playoff games and was part of Dallas’ run to the NBA Finals during the 2023–24 season.

His experience and floor-spacing ability could be a valuable asset for the Lakers, especially with Luka Doncic and LeBron James on the court together, and if he’s in good shape, he could become one of the team’s most important role players in the 2025-26 season.
