As the impasse between the Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga, a restricted free agent, continues, the Bay Area franchise may be compelled to involve a third team to complete a trade that satisfies all parties.

While Kuminga has repeatedly shot down Golden State’s reported two-year, $45 million offer, the Warriors have been unwilling to accept trade packages from teams such as the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings, citing a lack of draft assets and building blocks.

Amid the stalemate, Fadeaway World’s Eddie Bitar proposed a three-team Warriors trade proposal that also involves the Chicago Bulls and the Kings, the team that Kuminga reportedly prefers to join, either as a free agent or via trade.

Warriors would receive: Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu

Kings would receive: Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody

Bulls would receive: Malik Monk, 2028 first-round pick (SAC), 2030 first-round pick (GSW), 2031 second-round pick (SAC)

Should Warriors Trade a Pick?

The trade above would see the Warriors use their 2030 first-round pick and Moses Moody as enticing assets to make a deal with the Bulls and Kings. It may be the last hope for the Warriors, as Kuminga hasn’t attracted the sort of offer sheets a player of his caliber typically receives, in large part due to the league’s limited cap space.

“For the Warriors, this deal is all about maximizing Stephen Curry’s championship window while addressing two of their biggest needs: reliable shooting and a steady backup point guard,” wrote Bitar. “Coby White, who had a strong season as a knockdown shooter and secondary scorer last season, immediately gives Golden State a “Splash Brother Lite” to slot alongside Curry and Jimmy Butler.

“His ability to stretch defenses and create off the dribble adds a new layer to the Warriors’ offense, which has too often collapsed without Curry on the floor. Equally valuable is the addition of Ayo Dosunmu (12.3 PPG, 4.5 APG), a versatile guard who can handle secondary playmaking duties and defend multiple positions.

“Dosunmu gives Golden State a trustworthy option to run the offense when Curry sits, allowing head coach Steve Kerr to maintain offensive rhythm without leaning too heavily on Draymond Green’s playmaking. His defensive tenacity also pairs well with Butler, reinforcing the Warriors’ wing depth.”

White, Bulls Headed for Split?

The Bulls, who are reportedly unwilling to pay White a big contract, may have a lot to gain from the trade, as they’d receive two first-rounders to go with Malik Monk.

According to Dallas Hoops Journal, multiple teams attempted to trade for White this offseason, after learning of Chicago’s unwillingness to offer him a big extension.

“I know multiple teams tried to trade for Coby this summer,” an NBA exec said. “There was some chatter that he was almost traded on draft night. The Bulls love him, though. He’s not going anywhere. They have shot down trade inquiries for him.”

White, a former finalist for the Most Improved Player award, averaged 20.4 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals from 74 games last season, while maintaining 45/37/90 shooting splits. The 25-year-old is regarded as a player with significant upside to develop into an All-Star.
