After so many speculations regarding his potential landing spot, Kevin Durant finally joined the Houston Rockets. The veteran player is still in contract talks with the franchise. In the meantime, the Golden State Warriors’ long-term player Draymond Green recalled Kevin Durant’s time with the Warriors, which remains unforgettable. Many thought the Warriors were already a pretty good roster and did not need Durant then, which made his move feel unnecessary.

Green played a significant role in bringing Durant to the franchise and played a part in his eventful departure. Still, Green speaks honestly about Durant’s time with the team. He recognizes how much Durant contributed to the team’s success and doesn’t downplay his role.

“I am never one that’s gonna be like, yo, [Kevin] got championships because he came here. No. He helped us get championships. I will say he never gets the championship if he doesn’t come here. Because I don’t foresee that happening anywhere else, or else we would have seen it again happening somewhere else,” Green said. “I am not one of those people who are on the bandwagon of, Kevin didn’t do anything, Kevin doesn’t deserve those rings,” Green added. “You don’t win two Finals MVPs if you don’t deserve rings – that’s just a dumb thing to say.”

The Warriors are now mostly relying on Stephen Curry, who has full confidence in his team. Still, Durant’s time with the Warriors helped shape NBA history, and despite the criticism, his impact on those championship runs can not be denied. Green believes it was a perfect fit while it lasted.

Green ranked 88th on Bleacher Report’s Top 100 NBA players list. This ranking caught the attention of NBA legend Dwyane Wade, who strongly disagreed. Wade praised Green for being a winner, a leader, and a great team player.

On his show Time Out with Dwyane Wade, he said, “I just think that if someone wants to argue Draymond’s individual ranking, they just want to argue.” Wade believes individual rankings don’t define Green’s true value.

He also compared Green’s team’s first mindset to Brynat’s individual approach. For him, Green focuses on winning, not personal stats or recognition.
