Channing Frye shares ‘hot take’ on Golden State Warriors that would be bad news for Stephen Curry, ‘not being…’

At this point, the lack of offseason moves by the Golden State Warriors could be a sign of something big happening later in the season.

Last season, the Golden State Warriors made it to the postseason by a hair, thanks to a late-season surge after the Jimmy Butler trade.

However, the obvious gaps in the Warriors’ roster were exposed come playoff time as they were sent home in the second round.

As a result, the expectations from the front office were to be active in the offseason to bolster the roster before the 2025-26 NBA season. But so far, the Dubs haven’t even completed a single acquisition.

Channing Frye predicts Golden State Warriors will ‘blow up’ their roster

With the core of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler all being in their mid-30s, it’s obvious that the Warriors’ championship window is shrinking fast.

So, why isn’t the front office doing everything in its power to maximize the little time they have left to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy? Well, former NBA player Channing Frye has a theory.

“Not being a troll, the Warriors blow it up halfway through the season. They haven’t made any moves. I do think that team will be good, but look at the trend of where the NBA is going,” Frye said on the Road Trippin’ podcast.

He added: “OKC is a very tall team. The Cleveland Cavaliers are a tall team. Boston is a big team. Denver is a big team. Minnesota is a tall team. The Lakers, Clippers, and Houston are extremely tall.

“Golden State is still playing small ball, and I don’t know if that works anymore. They have to make another move for me to be confident.”

With the departure of Kevon Looney in mind, Frye’s concern over the lack of a tall, athletic center makes more sense than ever.

“Who’s their starting center? I just don’t think you can be successful playing small ball anymore. You need to have legit big men.”

What Stephen Curry thinks of the Golden State Warriors’ offseason

Right now, neutral fans are divided over the Warriors’ offseason strategy. While some believe it’s a risky move not to make any major changes to the roster, others are on board with it.

In fact, Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George backs the Warriors to compete for another NBA Championship with their current roster.

But what does the face of the franchise think of it? Well, Curry emphasized that the Dubs’ early playoff exit gives the team an edge over their opponents.

Additionally, the Baby-Faced Assassin doesn’t seem worried about the lack of moves, as he trusts the team to evolve over an 82-game regular season.

However, if Frye’s prediction becomes a reality and the Warriors blow up their roster mid-season, it could mean giving up on Curry’s twilight years. Would the 4x NBA champion be on board with it? Only time will tell.
