BREAKING: Warriors Make Surprise Announcement on Moses Moody After Playoff Struggles
Turns out that thumb injuries were a popular ailment among players for the Warriors in 2024-25. Stephen Curry had the best-known of thumb problems on the team, suffering a jam on his right thumb in January that affected him for the rest of the season, even into the playoffs.
Gary Payton II also had a thumb injury for a big chunk of the late season, suffering a partial tear in a ligament in his left thumb on March 27, an injury he, too, dealt with during the playoffs.
Now, it turns out, guard Moses Moody was also working through a thumb problem before the Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs by the Timberwolves in the conference semifinals last week.
The team announced that Moody had surgery to fix the problem.

As the team wrote on its X account: “Moses Moody underwent successful surgery yesterday in Los Angeles to repair a torn Ulnar Collateral ligament (UCL) in his right thumb. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of training camp.”

Moody averaged a career-high 9.8 points per game this year for the Warriors, and shot 37.4% on 1.7 attempts from the 3-point line, both of which were also career highs.
He struggled in the postseason, though, and saw his role reduced, as he shot only 35.0% from the field and 33.3% from the 3-point line. His minutes dropped from 22.3 to 16.1 per game.
Moody has never quite lived up to the hopes the Warriors had for him, but has been a useful role player in his four NBA seasons. He will begin a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension next season.
