Jokic’s Insane 39-Point EuroBasket Rampage Breaks Records and Silences Critics
Nikola Jokić proved that he should still be considered the best player in the world with his most recent performance in the EuroBasket 2025 group stages against Latvia. With the NBA offseason underway, Jokić and several other players across the league have decided to play for their respective national teams in EuroBasket 2025.
Although Jokić and his Denver Nuggets squad were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder, they were the only team in the Western Conference that could force the Thunder to a Game 7.
As Serbia took on Kristaps Porziņģis and Latvia in a group stage game, Jokić’s impressive performance sent a strong message to the international basketball community.
Nikola Jokić Set a New Single-Game Scoring Record in EuroBasket 2025
While it is unclear if Jokić felt frustrated over the early conclusion to the Nuggets’ postseason run, he appeared to be taking it out on Team Latvia in this game. Jokić led Serbia past Latvia to win 84-80. By doing so, the NBA superstar and his national squad continue to be perfect in EuroBasket and have yet to be handed their first official loss.
Not only was Jokić on the winning side, but he also displayed pure dominance across several stretches of the game. Even though some fans believe it is harder to score during international tournaments than in the NBA, Jokić finished this game with 39 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists. He also hit a clutch late-game three-pointer.
Jokic was also relatively efficient, making 15 of 26 shot attempts and all eight of his free throw attempts. He seemed to be finding his rhythm effortlessly. Jokić made floaters, hook shots, bank shots, and other fundamental shots to help Serbia secure an early lead over Latvia.
He continued scoring, increasing the pressure as the game progressed, ensuring that Serbia was able to hold off Latvia. By recording an impressive 39 points and a double-double against Latvia, Jokić has broken his own record for the most points scored in a single game by a Serbian national player.
Jokić is also now the only player in Serbian basketball history to record multiple 30-point games in EuroBasket.

With this win against Latvia, Serbia has secured its spot in the knockout stages of EuroBasket 2025. Considering that Jokić is playing at an otherworldly level, it wouldn’t be unfair to claim that they are the favorites to win the entire tournament.
Serbia will play against the Czech Republic and then Turkey. Turkey is also undefeated at 2-0, which should provide a good matchup. In any case, fans are left wondering if Serbia will be able to use the momentum Jokic delivers to make it through EuroBasket 2025.
