BREAKING: Warriors’ $1.9M Gamble on Unknown Center Could Be Their SMARTEST Move Ever!
The Golden State Warriors are expected to exercise their $1.9 million team option on center Quinten Post for the 2025-26 season, according to league sources.
The decision represents a significant vote of confidence in the 25-year-old center, who emerged as a reliable rotation player after signing a standard NBA contract in February 2025. Post was originally selected 52nd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft and began the season on a two-way contract.
During the 2024-25 regular season, Post appeared in 42 games with 14 starts, averaging 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 16.3 minutes per game. His most impressive statistic was his three-point shooting, connecting on 40.8% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Post’s breakout performance came on January 23 against Chicago, when he scored a career-high 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-10 from three-point range, while adding five rebounds and three assists.
The Dutch center played a crucial role during the Warriors’ playoff run, making 12 appearances including two starts. He notably stepped into the starting lineup for Game 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves when Stephen Curry was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Post’s versatility as a stretch center who can protect the rim while spacing the floor with his outside shooting made him an attractive option for coach Steve Kerr’s system. His ability to play alongside both Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler in various lineups provided valuable flexibility.
The team option decision comes as the Warriors continue to evaluate their roster construction around their core players. Post’s affordable contract and production made the decision relatively straightforward for the front office.
Post will become a restricted free agent following the 2025-26 season, giving Golden State the right to match any offer sheet he receives from other teams.
